First Day at Big Machine Design

In short, it was great.

Walked in, was given a seat at a computer, and within 10 minutes was looking through the After Effects and Cinema 4D project files for a current project they’re working on. After familiarizing myself with the project, they put me on a few shots worth of rotoscoping work, and matte painting.

It was fantastic to get to do actual work on actual projects so quickly and be trusted with it. It felt just like my Emerson Channel workstation. And to make it even more perfect, they were playing a ton of great music on the speaker system all day… Beats fo’ days.

I had a decent amount of time to watch Cinema 4D tutorials as well, so it’s going to be a ton of learning, which is perfect.

SEE YOU TOMORROW AND AGAIN THE NEXT DAY BIG MACHINE.

Here they are, finally, the EVVY 30 CATEGORY OPENS!

Back in the early spring, I, along with a few other people imagined category opens filmed on a 7D, with hyper-stylized coloring, of Emersonians doing what they do in our little world, in the big world of the city of Boston.

Originally, I had them planned with a lot more ambient music and diegetic city noise, but during production week that view shifted when we were given a list of pop music to choose from. Overall, I’m still really proud with the direction we took and the work my team did. They look great, and the compliments we’ve recieved on them have made the sleepless nights worth them.

Here is the Theater open, put together by my friend, the very talented Andrew Hawryluk.

The rest are to follow.
