a correction to a previous tale
So, if you’re friends with me at Emerson, you probably know how I almost died as a child on a theme park’s “lazy river” water ride.
While originally telling the story, I cited that it occured at Water Slide World, in Lake George, NY.
After stressing the reality of the story with Christina Manzo on June 29th, I began to research this, and I realized that I was wrong. It happened at Six Flags: The Great Escape & Splashwater Kingdom theme park in Lake George, NY.
It was on the Capt’n Hook’s Adventure River ride, which is described by Six Flags as:
“Dodge Capt’n Hook’s water cannons as you travel down a 1,100-foot river. Open from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Guests under 42” must be accompanied by a guest over 54” Thrill Level: Moderate
Here you can read
wthernut’s review of the theme park, which goes into greater detail about this “Adventure River” http://www.igougo.com/review-r1153931-Six_Flags_-_Great_Escape_and_Splashwater_Kingdom.html
Capt’n Hook’s Adventure River is a rafting ride that takes you through waterfalls, waves and water bombs and cannons that are getting fired from Capt’n Hook’s Pirate Ship.
this was no lazy river.
Here is a overhead view annotated with specific references to the intial story transcribed by both Katie Mathisen and Satenik Karapetyan in late January, 2009.

the inital near drowning started at about half way down the red side of the first split, and then lasted till right before the second one, as noted by the “red zone.”
So there. you finally have it all, january crew. continue to laugh as you are.
Still don’t believe me? Come visit me. We’ll go ride it ourselves.
